Finally.......I have been wanting to do this ride for years now. This isn't a well known or popular route even though it is close to Denver providing big terrain and tough travel. The ride really is a adventure and more about the route, as it crosses exposed rugged terrain, with much of the route at or above 13,000 feet.
The adventure provides plenty of hard climbing, hike-a-bike, rough trail, bike path, road, dirt road, and mining flumes. We dropped a car in Georgetown and then shuttled up to Henderson Mine. The route up Jones Pass Road > CDT > Herman Gulch > Bike Path > Frontage Road > flumes from Silverplume.
The grind up Jones Pass road.....it is dirt road, but steep and non-stop.
Where we are heading....the saddle with the large cornice.
More grinding.....
Almost there.
Up over the cornice to the Continental Divide Trail (CDT).
CDT
Big views all around
Headed down there......
Flumes
Awesome day......one of my new favorite rides.
